The Anaheim Arts Council was formed in 1977 to act as an advisory body to the City regarding culture and the fine arts. It played a major part in the development of the Anaheim Cultural Arts Plan (published 2000).

The Council has evolved over the years, becoming a non-profit corporation in 2002 and subsequently focusing effort on the city wide promotion of the arts through grants, student scholarships and the annual Children’s Festival.

The ACC gives annual recognition to local organizations that provide art in public places (AIPP). Through its volunteers the Arts Council engages in a wide variety of activities, festivals and public events within the city.

Membership of the Council is open to individuals, artists, organizations and students. The General Meeting on the first Thursday of the month is always a place for networking, discussion, entertainment and refreshments - open to everyone with an interest in the arts. The Board of Directors meets on the third Tuesday of each month.
